The goals of the Better Boards Training:

• To increase the capacity of Louisiana historic preservation related and non profit organizations by strengthening the skills and strategies practiced by high functioning and effective teams

• To support and enhance the Louisiana network of preservation organizations, staff, and volunteer leaders through constructive conversations about challenges and solutions to shared organizational challenges and development issues.

About our speaker:
Esther Hall has been involved in nonprofit work for decades, both as an executive director and active volunteer. She has served as board president and chaired nominating, strategic planning, resource development committees and led a capital campaign. Her work experience spans municipal and state government, the arts and museums, non-profits, and foundations. Esther was affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation beginning in 1991 and is the author of Investing in Volunteers: A Guide to Effective Volunteer Management published as part of the National Trust’s Preservation Book Series. She has provided consultation and training for statewide and local preservation organizations throughout the country. Currently, Esther serves as the Chair of the City of Raleigh Historic Resources and Museums Advisory Board.
